Choose a Hikvision CCTV camera by checking the scene, lighting, viewing distance, recorder, storage, power and network.
Hikvision CCTV camera: How do I choose a CCTV camera system?
Choose CCTV cameras for the scene and installation: identify the area to cover, lighting, viewing distance, indoor or outdoor exposure, recording needs, network and power. Match camera, recorder, storage and cabling, and follow applicable privacy and installation rules.

What affects camera image quality?
Resolution is only one factor. Lens and field of view, distance, lighting, night performance, placement and recording bitrate all affect the footage you can identify.
How much recording storage is needed?
Storage depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, recording schedule and retention period. Estimate with the recorder or manufacturer’s tool and confirm the drive compatibility.
What should I plan for installation?
Check mounting, weather rating, power or PoE, network coverage, cable route and recorder compatibility. Aim cameras carefully and restrict recording to appropriate areas.
