For a small addition, an appropriate injector may avoid replacing a working data switch. A larger installation may benefit from a suitable PoE switch and central power backup. Include leads, mounting and electrical sockets. Price the complete arrangement instead of comparing an injector alone against a fully equipped switch.
Design long runs explicitly
A repeater introduces its own power use and installation conditions. Confirm the supported cable lengths, endpoint power and allowed arrangement for the exact models. Do not promise indefinite extension by adding repeaters. Compare a fibre link with local power where that better suits the route and operating requirement.
