How to choose an Original HP laptop adapter
Reviewed 10 October 2026. Match the adapter to the exact laptop model, required output voltage, power rating and connector. For USB-C charging, check the supported charging standard, power profiles and cable. A matching brand or plug alone is insufficient.
HP connector and power checks
HP blue-pin barrel adapters and USB-C adapters are different options. The linked 65W blue-pin example identifies a 4.5mm × 3.0mm connector. The USB-C example requires a laptop that supports the appropriate USB-C charging specification; the presence of a USB-C data port is insufficient.

| Published adapter | Price (LKR) |
|---|---|
| HP (USA) Original 19.5V 3.34A 65W 4.5*3mm Blue Pin Laptop Adapter | 10,500 |
| HP (USA) Original 65W Type-C USB-C Laptop Adapter | 14,500 |
What should you read on the old adapter label?
Record output voltage, current and rated power. For a DC barrel adapter, voltage multiplied by current gives the approximate rated watts. Match voltage, connector dimensions and polarity, then verify the current and power requirements for the exact laptop.
Can I use a higher-wattage adapter?
Only when the laptop manufacturer supports that specification. Higher rated power alone does not prove compatibility. An insufficient power rating may cause slow charging, no charging during use or restricted performance. Confirm the approved adapter rather than relying on a universal wattage rule.
Will any USB-C adapter charge my laptop?
No. The laptop must support charging through that port, and the adapter and cable must support the required power delivery arrangement. A phone charger or USB-C data cable may not meet those requirements.
What if the laptop still does not charge?
The fault may involve the adapter, charging port, battery or another component. Describe whether charging is intermittent and whether the laptop recognises the adapter. Ask for assessment when the cause is uncertain.
Before ordering
Send the full laptop model and a clear photo of the old adapter label and connector to Richcom. Confirm the output, connector requirements, availability and warranty before purchase.
