How to install memory on your Laptop
Adding RAM makes your computer work better, faster, makes multitasking easier and increases system responsiveness. Installation is a convenient and fast process that can be done in just 10 steps and benefits you instantly.
- Static electricity can harm the parts in your system. To save your laptop’s component from damage of static electricity during the process of installation, just touch any of the metal surfaces on your laptop’s frame that is unpainted or just wear a wrist strap before handling inner components. Both of these methods will discharge the static current that’s present in your body naturally.
- To protect the module of your memory, don’t touch the gold pins or chips. It’s best to hold the module from the upper area or side edges.

- Your Laptop
- Your Laptop Memory
- A Screwdriver
- Owner’s manual
2- Turn off your laptop. As your files and data are on your storage drive and not your RAM, they are unaffected while installing RAM.
3- Remove the power cable from your laptop.
4- Remove the battery from your laptop. Check out the owner’s manual for particular instructions. If you have a laptop with an undetachable battery, you can leave this step and move forward.
5- Hold the power button for around 5 seconds. This discharges any electricity that is still in your laptop. If you don’t have a removable battery, there’s no need to hold the power button.
6- Open the case. To check out the instructions about opening your specific laptop, check out its own manual. You can also take pictures on your phone to check where cables and screws are attached so that it is easier for you to put it back together.
7- Ground yourself. Touch a metal surface that is unpainted to protect your memory and laptop components from static harm during the process of installation.
8- Remove the current memory module. Pull the clips away to release the module and take the modules out from the slots.
9- Install your memory. Hold the modules along the sides, align the cuts on the module with the holes in the slots, apply pressure evenly, and press the module in firmly. It takes about 30 lbs of pressure to install the module completely.
10- Put the laptop case back together and reinstall the battery
Your memory is now finally installed. Boot up and have fun on your more responsive computer that is now equipped to run memory using apps.
