Laptop Buying Guide: Match the processor to your everyday work
Compare the precise CPU model and generation instead of relying only on i3, i5, i7, Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 labels. A compact office laptop and a gaming laptop can have very different power and cooling arrangements. Start with your application’s requirements and the number of simultaneous tasks, then consider the complete configuration.
Check memory and storage upgrade options
The examples below include 8GB memory and 512GB SSD configurations. These figures help shortlist models but do not establish future upgradeability. Ask whether memory is soldered, whether a spare slot exists and which storage formats the exact model supports. Enough storage for current documents may be different from what you need for a growing media library.
Compare the screen and everyday connections
Look at resolution, panel type and screen size together. A 14-inch model may suit frequent travel, while a larger display may be easier for a fixed desk. Check USB ports, display output, keyboard layout and the accessories you use. For gaming or creative work, verify the exact dedicated GPU rather than relying on a category label. Battery runtime depends on workload and settings.
